Antique Murano Mirrors

To complete the collection of Murano glass works of art, in addition to chandeliers, lamps and various furnishing items, we find the Venetian Mirrors. The attention to the smallest details, the harmony between shapes and colors make these handcrafted creations truly unique.

As well as the chandeliers, the Murano mirrors are also handmade by our glass masters. Each single mirror, depending on the model, is enriched with leaves, curls, reeds and rosettes in Murano glass faithfully reproduced and freehand.

Each glass leaf, for example, is drawn and worked with special pliers: first the shape of the leaf is created then, later, the veins in the shape of a herringbone are drawn.

In addition to these very refined details typical of the processing of Murano glass chandeliers and mirrors, a peculiar feature of a Venetian mirror is engraving. Also made freehand, the engraving takes place on the back of the glass plate and is made using an engraving wheel of various sizes depending on the design to be made; then the engraved slab is polished with cork which infuses shine and depth and then is silvered.

Once the silvering has dried, it is removed by hand with the pad, leaving it only in the engraved glass part. Finally, as a last step, the plate is painted in the desired color.
